Independent studies show that martial arts improve mental focus, increase attention span and consequently help children to achieve better grades. Training in Taekwon-Do gives children greater self confidence and the ability to defend themselves emotionally and physically against bullying leading to resilience.

“Joshua (10) and Ben(8) started training at Tas ITF from the age of seven. They initially completed the children’s program, which breaks learning the techniques/principles/discipline of ITF into smaller achievable steps, and are now participating in the open classes available at the Dojang. Joshua finds that he gets the most out of the self defence and sparring training. It has assisted in providing him with the self confidence to choose non-physical ways to resolve conflict, and to only use the physical skills he has learned as a last resort. Ben’s favourite activity is the warm-up games, as he enjoys being able to try some of the more challenging kicks, such as flying side-kick. It has also helped him improve flexibility, core strength, and concentration. If Josh and Ben continue to train regularly, they could achieve the level of black belt by the time they are thirteen.”
